Stara Kopalnia w Wałbrzychu

     Stara Kopalnia w Wałbrzychu to muzeum przemysłowe usytuowane na terenie historycznej Kopalni Węgla Kamiennego „Julia”. Otwarto je 9 listopada 2014 roku po rozbudowie istniejącego tam Muzeum Przemysłu i Techniki, które działało od 1999 roku. Ta unikalna placówka została wpisana na listę Europejskiego Szlaku Dziedzictwa Przemysłowego – ERIH w 2015 roku.

 

    W ramach Centrum znajdują się różne atrakcje, takie jak:

 

- Muzeum Przemysłu i Techniki, które udostępnia większość obiektów dawnej kopalni, w tym lampownię, budynek maszyny wyciągowej, warsztaty mechaniczne i plac kopalniany z lokomotywami i wozami transportowymi. Planuje się także otwarcie fragmentu XVIII-wiecznej „Lisiej sztolni” na głębokości 30 metrów

  

- Centrum Ceramiki Unikatowej, zaadaptowanej z istniejących budynków poprzemysłowych

  

- Galeria Sztuki Współczesnej

  

- Siedziba Wałbrzyskiego Ośrodka Kultury (WOK) oraz Zespołu Pieśni i Tańca "Wałbrzych"

  

- Lokalizacja organizacji pozarządowych i miejskich instytucji kultury na terenie dawnej Kopalni Węgla Kamiennego „Julia” w Wałbrzychu

 

     Stara Kopalnia w Wałbrzychu jest efektem decyzji Rady Miasta Wałbrzycha z 1999 roku, która zatwierdziła utworzenie oddziału muzeum na terenie kopalni. Od samego początku, zarząd miasta przekazał nieodpłatnie teren Kopalni Węgla „Julia” w celu stworzenia Oddziału Muzeum Przemysłu i Techniki. W 2004 roku zespół 14 obiektów kopalni został wpisany do rejestru zabytków województwa dolnośląskiego.
