Klasztor Karmelitów Bosych w Zawoi

    Klasztor Zakonu Karmelitów Bosych w Zawoi znajduje się w północnej części miejscowości, na osiedlu Przysłop, w województwie małopolskim, w powiecie suskim.

 

    Historia tego miejsca sięga roku 1945, kiedy to powstała pierwsza kaplica. W 1951 roku wokół kaplicy zbudowano czternaście stacji drogi krzyżowej. Od 1970 roku, za zgodą biskupa Franciszka Jopa, rozpoczęto przekształcanie kaplicy w dom zakonny. 1 stycznia 1976 roku Kuria Metropolitalna w Krakowie oficjalnie powierzyła zakonnikom duszpasterstwo parafialne w ośrodku duszpasterskim św. Józefa Robotnika w Zawoi-Zakamieniu. W latach 1970-1976 zbudowany został kościół św. Józefa Robotnika, a w latach 1986-1990 wzniesione zostały obecne budynki klasztoru, wraz z kompleksem domów przeznaczonych do celów rekolekcyjnych, grup oazowych oraz kolonii dla dzieci.

 

    Budynek klasztoru jest wyposażony w nowoczesne rozwiązania ekologiczne, takie jak kolektory słoneczne na dachu, które dostarczają energię cieplną do ogrzewania wody. Dodatkowo, dla potrzeb klasztoru, uruchomiono nowoczesną oczyszczalnię ścieków.
